Lip Smacken Good

Prince, my father in law's, draft cross yearling gelding, has a choking problem. He likes to gobble down his food so quickly, that lumps get stuck in his throat. So, to solve this problem, we now feed him straight oats with watered down bran. It's quiet the mixture and very sloppy. But Prince loves it. You can see the bran still on his fuzzy lips. He normally has it all over his face, but that day he must have been a bit neater with his slop. But, Prince, being a baby, is super nosey and curious. So, when he gets finished eating he must put his large head over the stall and see what every other horse is doing. And stalled right next door to Prince, is Missy. Missy is our yearling paint filly. She loves Prince and she loves Prince to hang his muzzle over on her side of the stall. Missy loves to lick up all the bran left over on Prince's lips. Prince just loves the attention. Little does he know that Missy is just using him to get to his bran. It's very tasty. Missy has to check all over his face to make sure she got all the bran off of him. One last spot, and I think she has got it all. "Did you say something?" I think Prince is so sweet to let Missy lick his lips clean. I think she forgot a spot! Missy and Prince are quiet the unlikely pair. Missy won't mature taller than 14.2 and Prince is already 16 hands. But they love each other.

And a Peanut update. I tied him for a few hours yesterday and worked on some ground work in the round pen. Then I rode him for about 45 minutes and Peanut was so much better. I haven't tried the Ace on him, because I haven't had time to see how long it will take to work on him and wear off. But this afternoon I am going to try it out. I think Peanut just really needs some work and the more I mess with him the better he will get. He was a lot calmer yesterday, so I am hoping for a really good boy today.

Price is so lucky to have Missy take such good care of him. Even if she is just using him for a tasty treat.

Those pictures, are great! lol. Have you tried feeding him cubes? They can't fit the whole cube in their mouth, so they have to nibble on them. Sounds like you have the soulution, just throwing another idea out there. I have been a little under the weather, so I am trying to catch up. Nope I haven't even read Twilight...he he I need to, I hear it is a good series.

lol!! That's so cute! My dogs do that, but I don't think there's anything on our big dogs face to make the little one lick it. So that just makes them weird.

Oh my word! What a wonderful story! Loved all the pictures of the two buddies too! You always have really good pictures and I really enjoy them. Never have used Ace so don't know anything about it but hope it helps Peanut out with the jitters.

Great post!!
