So Excited!

It's not very often, or ever really, that Mr. Cowboy and I get to go out and do something with just the two of us. Even when we got married we only had one night of silence. Well, silence from children that is. (hee hee) Then it was back to life as we have always known it. Mr. Cowboy and I never had a honeymoon. We have taken one three day weekend two years ago for an anniversary. Mr. Cowboy surprised me with a Plantation weekend!! It was fantastic. But this year for our anniversary.......uhm......well......we both forgot about it. I actually remembered first! Two days later I called Mr. Cowboy and wished him a Happy Anniversary. He couldn't believe I remembered first!! But this year we are going some place SO exciting!

We are going to a Dude Ranch! I know...I know...we are going to pay to go ride horses when we have our own in our backyard. But our horses aren't in the mountains, meals aren't cooked for me, and we won't have any children for an entire week! An ENTIRE WEEK!!!! I just don't know what I am going to do!!! Well, I know exactly what I am going to do, RIDE!!!(ALL photos are from the Elk Mountain Ranch Photo Gallery.) We are going to a ranch called Elk Mountain Ranch. The reason we chose this ranch was because I know an employee. Yes, I have a Wrangler connection. About 10 years ago, I was a camp counselor. I lived at a summer camp and taught riding lessons to kids, did archery, canoeing, camp fire songs, and so much more. It was a fun dream job for me. I LOVED it. I did it for two summers. Well, one of my campers went on to become a Dude Ranch Wrangler. I simply can not wait. We are leaving on the 19th. While at the ranch we get to do all sorts of fun things. One of those things is going to be white water rafting! Mr. Cowboy has been before but I haven't. So, I can't wait to do that. Also, there is a rifle range, fishing, hiking, massages, hot tub, trail ride, overnight trail ride and cook out, and so much more! They even have a few evenings where they have a square dance and they have a local band come and play. Mr. Cowboy loves to sit and listen to music. And have I mentioned yet that we won't have any kids with us? I really can't wait! I get so excited and gitty when I think about it. Then I get more excited when I think about the new jeans I need for this trip!! I am only slightly jean obsessed. Some woman love purses, others love shoes, I LOVE JEANS! I am also excited to get on a horse that is broke. A horse that isn't going to buck me off into the wild blue yonder and just ride. Ride in the mountains with my hot cowboy husband!

I am SO excited for you guys! This is one of my dream trips! I got a ton of brochures a few years ago about dude ranches, watched their videos, etc. I really want to go to one where I can round up cattle!
Can't wait to hear all about it.
p.s. I'm a jean girl, too!! :)

I am SO jealous!! That sounds like a ton of fun and would love to go do that some day..
It would be fun to get away. We had a 3 day honeymoon in Vegas - Josh already had Heather so instant mom and wife for me. She was at her mom's on the weekends though (until she moved to OK and now we have Heather full time).

I LOVE MY JEANS TOO!!! over a purse any day.

What a great gift to each other! My husband and I never had a honeymoon either. He had a new job and they wouldn't let him have time off. Now both our jobs won't let us have time off together. Once we tried to go to a concert without the kids for our anniversary, and the babysitter stood us up.

Well - pack a few extras to take advantage of the week kidless ok? If you don't I will be really disappointed in ya!

Oh girlie, sounds like so much fun! I must admit I'm a little hurt you didn't come all the way out to NM--the big branding is coming up, ya know! I'm teasing you. We definitely don't have rafting available,. :) Happy trip taking, my friend. Enjoy a childless vacation for me, would ya?
