The Bachelor and New Fence

The fence has finally been finished! Oh how I love it! When I drive down the road and can see it peeking out of the brush at me I get all excited. It's the little things in life that get me all happy! My husband says that I am not a high maintenance girl, until it comes to horses. I agree. I love expensive horses and the expensive nice things that go along with them. I admit it. But what horse person doesn't? I don't have expensive horses or expensive horse things, but oh how I wish I did. I can catalog shop all day long. Anyway, but the pretty black fence is done! What do you think? I LOVE it! I can't wait to put my two fillies in it! Mr. Cowboy wants to fertilize it first and then wait a bit. With all this rain we have been having I don't think it needs fertilized. The grass has been growing like CRAZY! The weather here has just been rainy for the last month. We get a couple nice days and then it down pours. But I am glad the fence guys got the fence done between all the rain! Would you believe that they didn't pull a string? That the Boss just eyeballed the fence line? Well, he did! That guy was amazing! They even put me in a walk through. Now step two, is to put up the barn. We have about a month before the barn work starts!! I am so EXCITED for my own horse barn!!!! While I was taking pictures our Bachelor kept an eye on me. Our paint stud stays all by himself. He doesn't play well with others. He has three acres all to himself. He really doesn't get much contact with people either. He doesn't get fed grain at all so we only go over there to deworm and trim him. It killed Red not to come over and see what I was doing. He had to act all wild and studly on his approach. Just to show me how manly he is. Red tried his hardest to put on a good show. But when he realized I wasn't impressed he knocked it off. I think it's funny how he just moseyed on over after his big SHOW of studliness. Can you believe that we don't ever feed that fat boy? He just eats grass. In the winter time we will toss him some hay, but other than that, he is a grass fed boy. Red is almost 11 years old. We don't breed him too much any more. We had one breed last year. My husband and I have been talking about gelding him and roping off of him next year. Red has this really "awesome" bachelor pad. It's called the "Shack". The people who had horses on this land before us built the little run in shed/stall. It's held up in through some bad hurricanes. But I think the Shack is in need of some tender love and care. Plus Red gets embarrassed when we talk about his Shack. Just don't look at his fence either! It's okay Red, we are working it. Mr. Cowboy has been in there cleaning up the pasture. I have always loved Red's wrinkly lips. It's like he is a Grandpa horse. But it was starting to sprinkle so I wanted to get inside before my camera got wet. I scratched Red's favorite spots and then went back home. I think he was kinda hoping I would stay a little while longer. He was really loving the attention. And no his fence isn't really that low, I edited out some of the wire. Like I said, his pasture is a work in progress.

The new fence looks awesome! I know what it's like to spot your fence coming in and feel so happy to have it! I feel the same way when I get new fence built.

That fence is so great! Love your house, too. Red is a handsome boy. My Boy has a shack too, he sleeps in it at night but would rather stand in the rain. I think if he had a mansion, he'd still stand in the rain, LOL! :)

Will that handsome boy be getting a pretty fenced in area the same as your fillies have, too? That is some gorgeous new fence. The barb wire, not so much. lol! I'm actually amazed that a stallion can be kept in fencing like that. I think I always imagined a fence like Fort Knox to keep in stallions. He sure is a handsome fella, though. Fat and happy on all that lush, gorgeous grass!
You're so luck to have that for feeding your horses.
Here, it's rained less than 4 times this entire year. And most of it was just spit, not enough to make our grass grow higher than a 1/4 inch. Sure makes the hay bill very high!

Holy Andrea! Look at you, livin' the dream! Every time I go to a movie theater I think of you and the fun we had.
We are in the South too. I looked it up, we're about 9 hrs away in Phenix City, AL. Still a long way but maybe someday we could get over there. My 2 year old would love it.
Drop me a line!
