The Christmas Tree Hunt
Well, our family was a bit late on the whole "getting a Christmas tree" thing. I finally told Mr. Cowboy that if we didn't go this past weekend that we were not going to get a tree at all. He said, "That's fine with me!" He is such the Scrooge. So my scare tactic didn't work so well. He acted like it was fine not to have a tree. So, I changed my strategy. I then tried the sweet approach and it worked. We went out on a hunt for the perfect tree. Just getting out of the car and smelling the Christmas trees was exciting. We have been talking about getting a fake tree, but if we do that we won't be able to go Christmas tree hunting. And I think that the hunting for the perfect tree is one of the most fun parts about starting off the Christmas season. Plus the kids love it. They go around hugging all the trees trying to find the perfect one! Cowpokette was trying to get us to buy a HUGE tree!! The Cowpokes really loved every tree they saw. Little Cowpoke wanted a flocked tree! I am not a fan of the white snow like Christmas trees. I couldn't imagine putting lights on that! Doesn't the snow/flocked stuff get all over? Then we found the perfect tree!! And you will all have to love how perfect my children were being in front of the tree, and then the FUNKY lighting going on! What the heck? Do you like that light star burst thing going on at the top of our tree? And then there is muscle boy in the middle, with Big Cowpoke doing a funky bendy thing with his hands shoved in his pockets. And then there is Cowpokette......just looking at the boys. I tried taking anther one. Yep, that was as good as I could get it. The kids were far from cooperating. But that's okay. Little Cowpoke is only licking his sister's face! Ha ha! I have to laugh when I see that light glare behind the tree. It kinda makes me want to sing, "AHHHHHH!!" Ha ha ha ha!! It must have been the perfect tree! Then we got the trunk trimmed and a net put on it! Yes, that man is wearing a "muscle" shirt in December. Yes, it does read, "Tough Runs in the Family". And yes, he is wearing a cowboy hat and has his jeans tucked into his boots!! He was definitely dressed like a macho tough country boy! I had to chuckle when I saw him use that tiny saw to cut the tree!!I guess it's a power tool, so we'll give him that! You just gotta love "Country"! Well, after all the mud and excitement of picking out a tree, we got it loaded in the truck! Big Cowpoke was so very excited! Little Cowpoke was just concerned that Daddy was driving off with out being buckled up. It takes us about 25 minutes to get home. When we were just about home, I turned around and saw Cowpokette rubbing Big Cowpoke's head. She is so sweet to her big brother. And now we have the tree up and it's all lit up with ornaments and all. I just don't have a picture of it yet. But the Christmas tree hunt was successful.

what fun pictures! Yes, I'm sorry, I admit I had to laugh at cowboy's get-up too! The funny thing....my 15 year old son does the SAME EXACT thing!! LOL! :)
What fun. Something I learned this christmas that kind of relates to this is the tree stands/feet/holders/whatever you want to call them, make really cheap and good jump standards. Just get a post and put it into the tree foot like you would a tree and then drill holes in it for the jump cup pins. Easy peasy.
What is it with crabby men and Christmas trees? Does Christmas = crabby family members? As my hubby is not the only one.
I think the kids pics are fun!
Can't wait to see it decorated!
Good for you. Finding the perfect tree for Christmas IS a big deal. These men, they are such scrooges sometimes. The tree looks great, can't wait to see it decorated.
What fun! The husband and I used to go out looking for the perfect real tree too. Now with my mini house, I have to use a skinny fake one. Oh well. Loved the pics! And the guy at the tree farm was fabulous!!
Oh, how fun! I haven't gotten a tree in a few years, just used a pre-lit fake one my mom gave me years ago. It's easier to deal with, but I miss a real tree. I am actually into white trees this year, LOL! Maybe not flocked, because they are so messy, but fake white ones. Hee! Maybe because I want it to snow...and a white covered tree reminds me of snow!?
Your kids are the cutest! And your photos always capture their joy, laughter, and even their adorable little mischeif, too. :)
I can't wait to see your tree decorated!

Thanks for the inspiration--I have a great idea for what Max should wear to our tree stand while working! Yee Haw! I am jealous of that guy's power saw. We have the old fashioned kind. Max is afraid with all the little ones running around we might lose a limb or two with a chain saw.
Love your tree picture. I have a few of my own just like it--well, without the crazy rainbowy thing up top and add another child. But I was having a camera malfunction so mine are odd and slightly blurry. Does that count?
