Turkey Fun

For the past four days Big Cowpoke has been begging to work on his turkey craft for school. There was a large turkey that was in need of some color and feathers. So off to the craft store. I never have any crafty things at home, unless you want to scrapbook. That was an adventure, three kids in Michael's. Why do I think I am super woman and take my kids with me?? My husband soon met me there and it was better. I need go go gadget arms. After the craft goodies were collected and bought, we came home and went to bed. By the time we got home from town, it was way too late to do any crafts. But wow, bright and early Saturday morning I had a blond hair, blue eyed boy in my face whispering, "Mom can I do my turkey now?" The clock read 6:45am. I can't even get that boy out of bed that early for school let a lone on a Saturday. I said, "It is way too early and you have to do your chores. Plus we have a birthday party to go to this afternoon." His heart was broken. But he went back to watching cartoons unit I rolled out of bed. So, now it's Sunday and he had to wait until after church and after dinner before we could work on his turkey. Such a long time, but he was such a good sport about it. I also copied the turkey so Little Cowpoke could do one too. I just knew with paint and glitter being involved that there would be a tuff time convincing them to share. These paints are soooo cool. I was very leery about letting the boys have paint but they are washable. It really does was off too. Sometimes it says washable and isn't. And when you have a two year old behind the brush it can get kinda messy!! Big Cowpoke was so excited!! He was trying so hard to stay inside the lines. Little Cowpoke just painted and painted. He even would rinse his brush and wipe it on a paper towel before choosing another color. It amazes me how the second child learns so much faster then the first one. He just picks things up from Big Cowpoke. Fascinating. Big Cowpoke took his time and made sure everything was just right on his turkey. He painted everything and then the glitter came out!! That was fun. Kinda......well it was fun for them, not for me. Little Cowpoke just gooped it all in one spot while Big Cowpoke tried coloring the feather with the glitter. I showed him how to put a glob and then use his paint brush to spread it around. That was much more fun!!Here he is using his finger to smear the glitter!! That was a good method but messy. I think he did a fantastic job painting. But I am his mother. Now here they are. Two perfectly beautiful, colorful, and handsome turkeys. Big Cowpoke insists that he is going to win a prize for the coolest turkey. I absolutely love it when they get along and love each other. I just love sibling love!!! It's so sweet!! Don't you just love it when everyone is getting along and the house is filled with laughter and excitement!!!?? Okay it only lasts for like 15 minutes and that might be pushing it, but it is nice while it lasts!! What great artists!! I am proud of them. I did not help them at all. That's all for now, so y'all come back now ya hear!!

They did an awesome job on their turkeys. I may go and look online for a picture of a turkey and let the little ones have at it.

I love it when they get along. The little 4 (not counting the baby) get along pretty well - I am assuming it is because of how close they are in age? - but the older two there are some days that they get along, and others they bicker and fight all day long from 6:00AM when they get up, until whatever time I can get them to bed. So the times when they get along, I want to get the video camera out, LOL.

Just found your blog. The turkey pictures are too cute! I always try to avoid using glitter. It seems that, for a week after it gets used, I am picking it out of hair and off of faces and out of diapers!

Some serious artist there - I love the photo with the tongue coming out. That's how our oldest use to hold her tongue when she was young - low these many years ago.
