I Need a Hair Style Change!!!

I have had the same hair all my life. At times I added bangs to my hair style, but it really hasn't changed a bit since I was three years old. I am three there on the right, and four years old on the left. Not much of a difference, huh? Really, it look almost just like that in my senior pictures. But let me show you some other pictures in between Pre-K and my senior year of high school. That was first grade. Wow, big change here. Well, I have a different dress on. Now on to third grade. In the third grade I got glasses. I loved my pink framed glasses. Hello, Andrea? The eighties are calling and they want their red sweater and funky back ground back. Bangs, are you still there? Yep, they sure are. Now, when I got into the fifth grade, my really cool biggest sister, who was in high school did my bangs for my school picture. Can you say, "Hello 1990's!"I did get my hair shortened a bit. Now, the summer of my fifth grade to sixth grade year I begged my mom for a perm. I hated my straight hair. But do you all see how short it was there? Yeah, and I wanted spiral curls. And my mother let me do it!! Yikes!! So, by the time my sixth grade pictures came along, my perm was very poorly taken care of, and I forgot it was picture day and I do not think I even brushed my hair. But I did get new glasses!! Holy Huge Glasses Batman!! But that was the style back then, I promise. Then the eight grade game along. And thank goodness for good friends who taught me how to do my hair. Well, at least brush it. Oh those overalls were so cool. I remember getting them passed down to me and I was so excited. My bigger sisters, I had three, were soooooo cool. And I loved wearing their old clothes. I also remember that morning of the 8th grade school pictures. My mom was putting my hair up "half and half" when I got frustrated with my bangs. I cut them. Yep, they are not curled in that picture but cut. I had such great fashion sense. Then High School came. I was a freshman hottie. I finally brushed my hair and left my bangs alone. I also had volume, where did that come from? I wish I had that volume now. I will skip my other high school pictures because they all look the same with a different shirt and my hair is just a bit longer. So, here is my senior picture. Same glasses and same hair, just a bit longer. I remember before that picture was taken my friends and I wanted to bleach our hair. So, instead of buying some hair dye, I actually used bleach. Let me tell ya, I had a really clean scalp! I am lucky my hair didn't fall out. I was informed later that hair dye and bleach are too very different things. Thank goodness my hair didn't fall out. I am a true blonde. Now on to what I look like now.Not much different, a bit chubbier, and all I did was get new glasses and push my bangs over to the side. I am pathetic. I really need a new hair style. So, today I was playing around at In Style, the Hollywood Hair Makeover site. It's so much fun. And it's free and you don't have to register to do it. Just upload your picture and put new hair on your head. So, here I go. This is me with Carrie Underwood's hair. I could do this style now, if I knew how to do my hair. I am hair stupid. Here I am with Hillary Clinton's hair. I think Mr. Cowboy would die if I came home looking like this. Oh so funny!! But seriously here are some I really liked. I really want to be girly, but my sister told me this was too froo froo for me. I wish I could get my hair to curl like that. This one is dark and short. I like it, but I know my hair would be way flatter than that. It would be stuck to my head. I would have to know what products to use. Move over Hilary Duff, here I come. I think that is too much hair. A 50's do. I really like this but I know I would not curl it every day. So, here is my favorite. Even though I wanted to keep my hair long, I think I like it shorter. I could also pull it back to look like this. So, what do you think. Should I keep my hair long and just put more layers in it and just curl it when I want to? Or should I be bold and cut is shoulder length or shorter!!! Oh, and if anyone has some product information they would like to share with me, I am an open book. All I use is a leave in detangler! Simplicity.

Hair tips? For like... PEOPLE? Dude... outta my league! ;) I use shampoo, conditioner, and shove the mess up under my ball cap with a pony tail hanging down my back! (Very seriously here- if I am lucky, I think about getting it "done" about once a year. Maybe every 18 months or so...lol)

Hair.... used to be nice BEFORE I had kids! ;)

I love all the pictures of you growing up. It's so fun to see how people change. I am the same way. I feel like I have always had the same style too. Until today anyway. But I do like your hair the way it is now. If you want a change, I would say just go a little shorter and a few more layers. But then again, I am certainly no expert in the hair department. I am like Mrs. Mom in that I only think about getting my hair done maybe once a year.

I loved to see all the photos.. Advice..You're a very pretty girl and could wear any style you wanted to try. You'd have to take into account how much time you want to spend on it too. I like to wash and wear, but I am middle aged. If I was younger, I would put some fun color in it as I stick pretty much with just some highlights in my auburn.. sometimes shorter, sometimes longer hair..You should talk to someone who does hair...Michelle.

There are some really cute, stylish short haircuts now. I've had long hair most of my life and finally took the plunge into cutting it all off. I thought I would look too butch or show too much of my face and look ugly, but surprisingly the short hair makes me look younger, healthier, and it's super easy to maintain. I also get more respect from people because I look professional. On the other hand, you are much younger than I am, so a long hair style fits you well. I know... I'm not much help.

You sound like me; wash, condition, air dry; pony tail on weekends and since I teach it is up all week at school (don't watch to catch any bugs). Talk to a hair person, they may have advice for you. My main thing is that I need my pony tails!!

I can not do justice if I try to explain to you how hard I laughed at those pics. Thanks so much!! That was just great. I like it short with long bangs that blend into it. And really lots and lots of choppy layers. But, seriously, I'm wiping tears away!!

Especially love all your comments about the pics!!

This made me giggle.....just a bit. Hair is NOT my thing. I'm glad I have it, but couldn't care less about dealing with it.

I do get haircuts, but wash and wear is my thing. I did let the woman who cuts my hair (a friend, who happens to be a hair dresser, but no way can I actually call her my hairdresser, if you know what I mean. LOL) talked me into what she called a sheek style. I put up with it for about six months and then had it cut it off......nearly all of it. Now I'm back to wash and wear and much happier. My point, I'm hardly the one to ask about hair. LOL

OK, well I really like the last short one! You should do it! They'd show you what products to use. Probably if you'd just blow-dry your hair upside down in the morning and with the shortened length, you'd get more volume. And I use a straightener now even though my hair is already straight. My curling Iron is a thing of the past! It now takes me like 30 seconds to flip my hair under at the ends with it--since I have NO patience with fixing my hair! Good Luck!!!

I am a wash and wear girl myself but am sick of seeing the same face in the mirror over and over and over. Am thinking of going to a shoulder length shaggier layered look. My hair is impossibly thick and wavy so the sllek cool styles are out of the question. I found a cut in my latest Cowboys and Indians magazine that I really like a lot. I will try to get a photo of the photo and show it to ya!

My husband actually sat with me and we went through all the shots and we like the one you chose. He just says to remind you (something I once learned with a drastic haircut)that short hair can't be pulled back off your neck and face very easily in the heat of summer. BTW- Eric the Bold picked up the mail that included the wonderful cowboy suckers. He says at first he was shocked I had ordered such a thing, then upon opening them to discover they weren't what he thought cowboys would want to suck. Dirty minded boy! LOL. Thanks Andrea and Mr. Cowboy.

Tthere is a really good product that I like called Vavoom Root Riser. It works well on a shorter cut and gives lots of volume if you blow dry. Everyone that I have suggested it to has really liked it. I like your hair chin length with some bangs to the side. Very nice. I was a hairdresser for 22 years but am long retired. haha!
Love all the pictures, you were and ARE a sweetie!

I think you look gorgeous just the way your hair is now and even in your high school pic. But if you want a change, I say PLEASE don't got with that Clinton look. BWAHAHAHA!
That made me snort! :D

I seriously like that last shorter style on you, though. It was cute and framed your face so nice. And it would grow out well, too.

I don't know about all those curly styles. With 3 kids and a busy life, if you're like me, you'd never have time for it and it would just be straight and lanky, like you don't want.

It's funny, you and I have similar hair, except I only had bangs for a few years in school, then I moved onto the 80's 'wings'. Remember those? I even used pink hair tape to 'train' my hair to grow into the wings. lol!

I do believe we had the same pair of pink rimmed glasses, though. Mine were big and round, too!

Oh, and I wonder if you also use Infusium leave-in detangler like I do?

I want a new style, too. I'm thinking of going back to bangs and possibly a shorter in back and long in the front style.
Maybe if you get a new doo first, I'll be brave enough to do it, too! :)

Remember this: it's only hair, it WILL grow back. Then have fun!! Let's just say the first time I got my hair cut, like a real cut and not just trimmed, I had 27 inches to donate to locks of love. It was so liberating, but it took my hands awhile to get used to because when I brushed it, my brush would keep going inches after there was no hair. lol!! I've had long hair since a haircut in second grade and I first cut it after I had my second son about 4 years ago. I'm 30 now if that tells you anything. I had ALWAYS had long naturally curly hair. I can't straighten it, at least if you have straight hair, you can do a style that can go both ways. I say go for it. It will grow back quick :))

Yes Ezra is right it's only hair and it will grow back so go to a style tell them you are ready for a change and that you trust them to come up with something that will look good on you - and have them surprise you!

I have done this many times and only once I regretted it. All the other times it was awesome!

They are professionals that what they went to school to do - give it a try and show us pics when it's done!

Now that is the girl that I remember! Lol, I love the old pictures!

My computer has been down so I'm just getting caught up on your posts.

I am also hair challenged, but I have been trying harder lately. SO, this is what I've been learning.

Get a hair cut more often then once a year. By someone that really knows what they're doing.

Don't be shy to use a little bit of moose on your roots.

And someone finally taught me how to use POMADE. What is that you ask? You just take a small amount on your fingers and you can give your roots lift, take care of your fly a ways, give it a shine, and separate your strains a bit on the ends. Ask your hair stylist.

Now matter what have fun with it. You'll look great in any hair style. Make sure to post a picture when you're done.

What a terrifically terrific post! :) It made me smile the whole time. You have looked adorable your whole life--even now!

I love your current hair and I think you look cute in the last picture. With your pretty face, you can't go wrong. (well, maybe avoid the hillary.)

I think you look good with short hair, but hey that is me I don't like my hair long.
