Big City Livin' on a Dirt Road

Oh how I loved living in the suburbs. I loved many things about it. You always had neighbors, sidewalks, paved roads, and stores near by for shopping, quickly. But I do love living in the country. There are a lot of plusses to living in the middle of now where. You don't have neighbors, no sidewalks, dirt roads, and not a single store with in a 20 minute drive. When Mr. Cowpoke and I were building our house I begged for a driveway. He just wanted to put rocks. I could not just have rocks. I rememberd all my childhood memories of riding my bike on the driveway and up and down the sidewalk in front of our house. Those were good memories. So, I put my foot down and insisted on a paved driveway. Then I asked him for a sidewalk. You should have seen his face. He laughed and said, "Awh......No, you don't have sidewalks in the country." I told him that it would be good for riding bikes on. But he still didn't buy it. I also said that maybe people would come from miles around to see our sidewalk. In the south, at least Louisiana, there aren't many places that have sidewalks. The driveway took 105 yards of cement. So, there weren't any left overs for a small sidewalk. But on the bright side, our little dirt road is getting a make over!!! Now my kids will get to ride bikes on the road. Don't worry I live on a dead end street and there are only three houses down from us, so not much if any traffic.

Here are the tractors. Paw Paw told us all about what they do. He even knew their names, but I don't know much about any tractors. The red truck has water in it to wet down the cement stuff they put on the road. Then this grater tractor comes and grates it, imagine that. And then some really heavy rollers some over it and smashes it all down flat. Little Cowpoke was so very excited to see the big tractors. We were going to head to town but when we came outside and saw all the tractors we decided to stay and watch.Paw Paw told Little Cowpoke all about the tractors and what each of them did. Little Cowpoke listened and was in total amazement. Then a grater stopped right in front of our house. Paw Paw scooped up Little Cowpoke and put him up on the tractor. Oh this was awesome!! The workers had no idea we were playing on their machines. We were sneaky. Then this semi backed up and dropped all this cement stuff on the road. It was very dusty and really neat. Little Cowpoke liked to through large clumps of dirt into the cement and watch it go, "Poof". What a good arm. After all the flattening of the road, they put lots of fresh oil on the road. Now we are awaiting the paving crew!! I can not wait!!

I didn't do any scrapping today. I will get a page done soon. I am kinda in a rut right now. No mojo. I need some inspiration. Over at Oscraps there is a great designer freebie and a fun challenge. You get $3 gift for participating and then a bigger coupon if your layout wins. So, go on over and check it out. It's a fun challenge and easy too!!!

This is the layout that I did for the challenge. I know I have already shown you but here it is again. It is about me passing down my show horse to my oldest son so he can ride at rodeos. You can find all the credits here. If you are going to check it out tomorrow, the Oscraps site will be down for a server upload. So, you will have to wait until Friday night or Saturday. Thanks for stopping by and y'all come back now ya hear!!

Hooray for pavement! Too bad a year from now it'll all be cracked in front of your house from the dirt clumps Lil' Cowpoke was throwing in. :o) Counting down the days until we get to come visit!

Your son is super cute, I agree! Thank you for both of the comments that you left on my page. I came to visit you after the first comment but the baby began to cry and I hadn't made it back yet.

Once we move, we wont have a paved road out to our house either (nor a driveway for that matter) just packed dirt roads. Unless something major happens before June, LOL.

Last time I was here looking I wanted to tell you I love all of your scrapbooking pages that you post. I would love to do something like that, but I don't have time, nor any creative thoughts left in this brain of mine, LOL. So I will just enjoy the ones that you have done..
