Horse Play

I was testing out my zoom lens yesterday. I found Ozzie and Prince playing in the pasture. I stood on my back porch and zoomed in as far as my lens would go. Ozzie and Prince play just about every morning. I think it's more of a male dominance thing. Ozzie tries to let Prince know who's the boss. Prince won't be two years old until May, so Ozzie has to tell him who's the boss before Prince gets any bigger. It looks all innocent at first. And they have to check to make sure that nobody is watching them. They go back to getting all sweet, and then Ozzie tries to break out the big guns. Who ever can put their head up the highest and bite the other horse wins. But I think Ozzie is just a tad bit shorter. Poor guy. Then they are off. Who ever is the fastest wins. I think all the mud and water was slowing them down just a tad. Yeah, running was not a very good idea. Once last face up to determine who's the boss. But I think Prince was a bit fed up with Ozzie's games. Prince reared up and I think he smacked Ozzie in the muzzle. Let me zoom in a bit on Ozzie's face there a bit. Yeah, Ouch! I bet Rocky never felt like that! Ozzie didn't have to be told twice. He will have to try for alpha gelding some other day. I think these two act like this because they are the only two geldings in a pasture full of mares. I hope that one day Ozzie will just give up the fight for head honcho. Oh, and the arena is almost done. We just have to do the two short ends and the roping boxes and we are finished. Hooray. Oh, and this is totally off the subject, but my sister in law gave me the coolest purse for Christmas. Well, it really wasn't for Christmas, it was just because. My sister in law said she thought it was too big. But I love it. I am using it for a diaper bag and purse. I was so excited. She is the best!! And that bad holds a lot. I have diapers, wipes, infant Tylenol, Cowpokette's shoes, socks, wallet, makeup, pens, and I still have lots of room. Not to mention it has the cutest eggbutt snaffle bit I have ever seen. So, when the bag is all worn out I can just cut that bit out and use it on a pony!! Fantastic!

Oh, and I have not forgotten about the sucker contest. We just got back from Houston today. I got to go and pick up Big Cowpoke! We are so excited to have him back home. So, I will do a drawing Sunday night. I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year!!

Oh, and one more thing. If any of you want some free toffee, Lori, over at A Cowboy's Wife is having a toffee giveaway on her My Wooden Spoon blog. It's a super easy to enter and there will be 7 winners!! So, if you didn't get any toffee or would like some more, head on over to her blog and leave her a comment!!

What a great gift. Love the purse, but can you fit the camera in it. We know you can't go far without that new toy!

I'm loving this new purse! You're right, you can cut that one out and actually USE it! Sweet!
Love all the new pics too, just gorgeous. Belle's face is adorable. Brodi's too. But nothing beats Cowpokette's scrunched up nose!!
Can't compare to that cuteness!

It always scares me when I watch horses play and they rear up at each other! It seems natural for wild horses, but not domestic ones, LOL! How big is your zoom? It is the one thing I really am missing on my little camera. Especially since I like to photograph my horse, and some shots are better when you aren't right in his face.
I love the purse! Very fun! I got a cute western one from my parents for Christmas, too. It has lots of bling! :-)

Ughhhh-those kids-It's all in good horsey fun though-LOL.

That purse is waaayyyy cute. I noticed the bit right away. Pretty cool that it is big enough to use as a diaper bag.

Poor Ozzie looks like he's checking to see if his jaw still works. That snaffle bit makes the purse into a good weapon against muggers too.

Herd dynamics are funny. I can't figure my pecking order out. There seems to be one for the males and a different one for the mares. And the order between the mares and geldings is different. Like Buddy is top male, then Tono, Then Willie, Then Charlie. Stormy top female, followed by Shy-Anne, Then Riley the mule who doesn't really partake in all the drama. But Tono moves STormy around and willie moves Tono! I don't get it. Not that you care.LOL

Our guys do this 'playing all day long'. Sami is the instigator. He's very annoying to the rest of the herd. Your guys look like they are just having a bit of fun before settling down for the day.

Love the purse, it's really cool.

I just love those horse pictures, I am intimidated by horses, I think it is their size. Any way thanks for the little story, it was very interesting. Hope your new year is going great.
