What a Load and First Day of School

For the last three years we have had a cliff off of the east side of our driveway. This cliff has been fun. It has brought many hours of fun for the dirt bike fanatics. It even brought some fun to the equine fanatics. It's always fun to jump something off the side of a cliff. Well, maybe I should not call it a cliff, it's more like a small 1 and a half foot drop off. Needless to say it's been there for a long time. The cliff/drop off was going to stay there until yesterday. My husband stopped a dump truck driver who had been dumping clay and dirt down the road from a house pad and asked him if we could get some dirt. The driver said that he would give us some dirt. Not just some dirt but as much as we wanted. And what is better than that? Well all the dirt you want for the price of 10 bucks a load. You can't beat that.
My father in law started to spread the dirt and then Mr. Cowboy took over. Mr. Cowboy is very particular about his dirt. You could tell Mr. Cowboy was eye balling his Dad on the tractor. You have to watch his Dad sometimes. You just never know what he will do with the tractor. One day I had to intervene when my father in law was trying to pull a telephone pole out of the ground. The pole was about 12 inches from my Sundowner horse trailer. So, needless to say, you sometimes have to keep an eye on him.
I wouldn't have known where to start. I guess first I would have to know how to start the tractor. In college they offered a class on tractor driving. Maybe I should have taken it. I am very clueless on how to operate any kind of equipment. I just learned how to use the riding lawn mower about two years ago.

Mr. Cowboy worked that dirt over. He tried to get it as close to the driveway as possible. Cowpokette kept a close watch too. Her brothers, on the other hand, were too busy to watch the dirt being moved around. They were busy doing bike jumps off of the porch. Dare devils. As entertaining as it was, I too left to go inside to cook some dinner. We now have to be inside a bit earlier because school started today. I think I was dreading school starting more than Big Cowpoke was. I hate to get up at 6:30 in the morning just to get up a cranky boy and then try to catch the bus. Big Cowpoke is not a morning person. He was all set for the first day of school. He got one new uniform, new boots, new socks, and a new book bag. Big Cowpoke calls his book bag a book sack. Here he is showing off his new book sack. My goodness they sure grow up fast. Big Cowpoke will be repeating the first grade this year. We are hoping to see a lot of A's. I am excited to see how his day went.

ACK! School already?!

I know what you mean about being particular with dirt. Mr. Cowboy and Sam could be twins like that.

He looks so cute. :) Reminds me of school here - usually the kids get one uniform, the ones from last year still fit...
Josh and my Dad are the same way with dirt - it has to be done just right... I won't even try. :)
